The MKU Athletics team is dedicated to providing athletes with the tools necessary to meet and exceed their personal goals. MKU Athletics is where you go now to get where you want to be in the future. MKU Athletics Team is made up of former Professional and College Athletes that have been through the trainings and rigorous recruiting process.

Born and raised in Akron, Ohio where he attended Akron Buchtel High School. During his remarkable HS school career he was rewarded numerous accolades in Football, Basketball and Track. Steve was ranked highly in the state and nationally as a dual threat quarterback. Heavily recruited by over 40 plus division one schools while in high school. His final decision was to attend the University of Cincinnati where he was converted into a defensive back. He went on to letter his first two years there along with and playing in two bowl games The Motor City Bowl and the New Orleans Bowl. He later transferred universities as a result of the firing of his head coach. He went on to play two more additional years at Youngstown State University where he also letter two additional years. After his colligate career Steve went on to play 5 more years professionally in the NFL and Arena Football; were he play both defensive back and receiver. After traveling across the country playing in many cities Steve realized what was missing back home in his home state. In result he decided to give up his dreams to help young athletes reach their dreams and goals.
Since the decision to stop playing football; he has been able to help well over 100s of players of all ages throughout Northeast Ohio reach their dreams and goals. His company is becoming a house hold name in the area when it comes to the development of youth, collegiate and division one high school football players along with big name events throughout state of Ohio. Steve has conducted professional camps for NFL players along with a long list of partnerships throughout the country. This is only the beginning of what is to become of his plans for his hometown and most importantly the kids.

Austin Clopton
COO & Co-Founder
A local Akron native, Austin is a 2007 graduate of Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports & Recreational Management and Business Administration. Austin was a four year starter at running back and returner for the Tiffin University Dragons. Austin was a 3 time All-Conference and All Region player for the Dragons and was team MVP in 2006.
Austin has successfully worked with developing professional, collegiate, amateur and youth athletes in a variety of sports. His extensive knowledge in the areas of sports and performance enhancement makes him a significant addition to our organization. As a player, Austin was known for his outstanding work ethic, dedication, and commitment. These attributes carry over into the training style Austin utilizes helping his athletes and fitness enthusiasts succeed. Austin’s energy and enthusiasm allow him to inspire his athletes to reach their athletic goals and reach their maximum potential. Since 2007, he has been able to help 100s of players of all ages throughout Northeast Ohio reach their athletic and academic goals.
Austin began his coaching career in 2007 at Akron Garfield High School as the Freshmen Defensive Coordinator. Austin has continued his coaching at Garfield and is currently the Varsity Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Back Coach for the Rams. He has also been an instructor at football camps hosted by Antoine Winfield, Garfield High School, and the NFL High School Player Development Camps. Austin is also certified Sports Performance Specialist and the American Red Cross in CPR and First Aid.
Thomas Shaw
Business Strategist
Thomas M Shaw Jr has been the owner and operator of Perfection Lawn Care and Landscaping L.L.C since 2006. His duties include but are not limited to organizing weekly schedules, arranging payment schedules for customers, making follow-up calls for feedback on service and making marketing decisions to attract potential business.
Perfection Lawn Care and Landscaping L.L.C has hosted an event since 2011 called “Our City, Our Parks”, on Earth Day, where area youths and their parents are recruited to assist volunteers with the removal of litter from neighborhood parks in the city of Akron. Their efforts were recognized by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources division of Recycling and Litter prevention in the form of a certificate of appreciation for the dedicated voluntary contribution they made toward preventing and preserving Ohio’s natural resources.
Along with operating a successful business Thomas also served as Director of Operations for a youth organization, a Northeast Ohio Pop Warner participant, for two years (2010-2011). As director Thomas was responsible for scheduling both games and scrimmages, keeping track of all player paperwork (Registration, Birth Certificate, League ID Card, Report Card), organizing study tables, attending monthly Pop Warner meetings, coordinating team fund raisers, setting up online USA Football certification classes for coaches and arranging team discounts through Nike. While with the The Akron Titans Thomas also coached the Tiny Mites (age 5-7) to two league championships.
More recently (2012-present) Thomas serves as Assistant Director for the City of Akron Kenmore Youth Basketball League. As Assistant Director he oversees daily activity for over 100 area youths ages 8-17. His duties include but are not limited to overseeing registration, purchasing league uniforms, arranging team rosters, organizing study tables, running the scoreboard at all home games, overseeing the concession stand, attending away games, coordinating banquet and purchasing trophies.

Glenn Campbell
Wide Reciever Coach
A product of Buchtel High School, Glenn is a 2011 graduate of Hiram College. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications. A year letter winner in both Football and Basketball; Glenn played in 36 football games, and 89 basketball games. Glenn was three time all-conference wide receiver, second team all-ohio by ohiocollegefootball.com, and honorable mention all- American in 2010. Holds a conference record for most receptions in a season with 91, and is the only Hiram receiver to record over 1,000 yards in a season. As a senior he averaged 9.1 receptions a game which was tied 3rd nationally, and 109.5 yards a game which was 9th nationally. He is Hiram’s all-time leader in receptions with 207 which ranks 5th all-time in the North Coast Athletic Conference.
In addition to Hiram, Glenn played in the 2011 National Guard All-Ohio Senior Bowl which featured the best college players in the state D1-D3. He’s had CFL workouts with Toronto Argonauts, and Edmonton Eskimo’s. Also has had contract offers from several arena teams. Over the past 4 year Glenn has played with the nationally ranked Ohio Golden Knights Semi-Pro Organization. He’s a 2x league champion, 2013 league MVP, and 2016 national champion runner-up. Outside of football Glenn is works with the Juvenile Diversion Program at the Akron Police Department. He’s mentor to first time minor offenders, and works hard to keep them on a positive path in life.
